Green Hairstreak Butterfly

The Green Hairstreak butterfly is very well camouflaged and keeps it's distinctive green wings closed in grassy areas when resting to hide from predators. By contrast the Green Hairstreak's wings are a dull brown colour on top.

The Green Hairstreak can be found between April and July on moorland and in woodland clearings. This one was spotted near Waker Fold Woods.
