A Mesolithic chipping site was found on the edge of a quarry.
(SD 64281473). A chipping site on the edge of a quarry. Nearly all the flints so far taken off were honey coloured, whereas on the other Mesolithic chipping sites on SD 61 SW they have been of various colours. (1)
The ground at the top of the quarry has been denuded of the overlaying peat, exposing rocks and glacial debris. A cursory search revealed no flints. (2)
