The small green space beside the car park at Barrow Bridge was the site of an old mill pond in the 19th Century but was used as a public boating lake for many years.
There were kiosks and boats could be hired on the pond. Nothing remains today as the lake was filled in.
In the corner of the car park where mill buildings once stood and later the kiosks of the boating lake, there can still be seen the stone corner of the old building and also a large carved cornice from the old mills.
