A small, bright-blue bird with a red front and long beak.
Kingfishers can be found along rivers, ponds and lodges in the area and it seems to me they are more common in the West Pennine Moors area each year. I have seen more lately than ever before often singly but sometimes feeding in pairs.
The male has a black beak but the female has a black beak with red base.
