Palmate Newt

A tiny newt that is pale yellow when young, maturing to a dark-ish spotted green.

Palmate Newts are quite common throughout the West Pennine Moors area as they favour the acidic ponds. Male Palmate Newts develop a web between the toes of their back feet and a prominent crest on the tail during breeding season.
