Jubilee Tower

Jubilee Tower is in Darwen

Jubilee Tower or Darwen Tower as it is often know stands high above the historic mill town of Darwen in Lancashire. A great place to visit for the views alone but Jubilee Tower is one of few local towers that are open and visitors can climb up.

The Jubilee that Darwen Tower stands for was Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1898. However I think in 2012 the top of the tower was blown off in a storm and had to be fully replaced.

Darwen tower has two viewing platforms, one quite near the base and the other at the top. There is a spiral stone staircase most of the way up with the final section a rather tight spiral and made from iron.
